Press the stop pawl away from the ratchet to allow the cable to be pulled out to the length needed to reach your load, the release the stop pawl. Connect the load hook to the load. Engage the drive pawl by pressing it down to contact the ratchet. Slide the spring hook to the opposite end of its slot to ensure the drive pawl stays in place. Crank the handle toward the anchor side to pull the load. To release, hold release lever down by cranking the handle one notch tighter. As soon as the pawls clear the ratchet, it will disengage. Slide the spring back to the other end of the slot. Disconnect the load hook.
