  1. Does this wench require a standard 12 V car battery?

    Want to use on trailer and wondered about storing battery.

    1. Yes it requires a battery. You can get a plastic battery case pretty inexpensively to protect the battery. If you're worried about theft there are also secure battery cases.

    2. I have mine hooked up to an easily removal BOSCH 850 cca battery in a utility box on my auto hauler. I keep it fully charged in my garage when not in use. It works for me

    3. This Ironton truck winch just requires a 12V DC battery with a minimum of 650 cold cranking amps (CCA). The battery can be stored however you like, just make sure that the wiring is out of the way of moving parts.

  2. What is the 12V AMP rating of this winch ?

    1. At no load it will draw 97 Amps at 12 volts. At the maximum load of 9000 pound pull it will draw 322 Amps at 12 volts.

    2. On page 4 of the Owners Manual there is a table for First Layer of Wire Rope Performance. For 9000 pounds it lists a draw of 322 Amps. That should be the max draw.

  3. Replacement remote

    My remote cable got caught in the cable, anyway to get a replacement remote?

    1. The remote control assembly can be ordered through our parts department at 1-800-657-0516 Our parts department is available from 7 AM-6 PM CST Monday-Friday and 7 AM-3 PM CST Saturday. The remote control assembly is part IRN54125-39.

  4. How long are the Positive and Negative cables included? Also are they 2awg or 2/0? What style are the ends - ring terminal?

    1. The cable length on the winch is 1.5 meters (5.9ft). The wire gauge is 2AWG, with an O-ring style end. It can mount to the 12 volt battery, It would not interfere with the terminal post.

    1. This winch is water resistant, but not water proof. The remote control switch should not get wet.

  6. Fairlead Mounting?

    Does the Fairlead attach to the Winch? If not, does it come with a mounting bracket? I didn't see any mounting brackets on your website.

    1. The fairlead roller on this winch does not attach directly to the winch. Please see My Product Recommendations below for a truck winch mount that this winch and fairlead roller can mount to.
