  1. How long can pump be run continuously?

    We expect to be using this pump, if purchased, to drain water from our well during spring run off. Can this pump handle running continuously for say 2-3 hours at a time before resting for say 30 minutes to 1 hour?

    I am going to run this off a generator. Do you know what the starting amps would be at 115V?

  6. Can I connect a float switch to this pump for auto on/off?

    I have a spring that flows into a sump when we have a flood. It may flow for 3-4 weeks at about 3500 gallons/hour. When the sump fills up I need the pump to turn on and when it pumps it down, it needs to turn off. Early on during the high water flow the pump will run pretty solid but as the flow slows, the pump needs to cycle on and off as the sump fills. Do you sell a float valve that will work on this pump if it is allowed?

    1. This pump could not be set up with a float switch. You would need a submersible pump to have a float switch. Item #109423 is submersible and has a high GPH rating.

  7. What flow can I expect with a lift of 28ft? Is there a performance curve available

    1. This IPT by Gorman-Rupp Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump will deliver about 3900 GPH at 28 feet head. Northern Tool does not currently have a performance curve for this pump.

    1. This pump cannot be used for diesel fuel or any flammable fuels.

  9. Can this be used for geothermal water of 139F degrees?

    I have a natural hot spring pool. It has to pull water from about 18' down in the well, and I am at 6300' elevation--how many gals/min can I expect?
    Also, I am currently using a Monarch bse cast iron pump that they don't make anymore--looking for a replacement. Does this run on 115v? Thanks!

    1. This pump can be wired to run on either 115 volt or 230 volt. It would not work in this application. The heat of the water and the depth would cause major cavitation problems with the pump.

    What is the flow rate at 16 Ft Head pressure? And is it suitable for salt water?

    1. Your flow rate at a 16 ft head would be 75 GPM. It can be used in salt water application but it will rust. Cast iron would eventually rust in any use.
