80-82 DBA. Not nearly as noisy as my similar HF compressor, and this one fills much more quickly, runs more smoothly, and reaches a higher pressure.

Do you recommend a break in period for the air compressor. i.e 30 minutes with air tank valve open
-
Jim61571· 14 years ago
The owners manual siad nothing about a break-in period, but Ingersoll Rand did include a bottle of break-in oil.
Recently I purchase the 3 hp 60 gallon Ingersoll Rand compressor and the owners manual with that unit did say to run the compressor for 30 minutes with the drain valve in the open position. So I used the same procss for the small compressor.

According to instructions it tells you to do this. Doesn't hurt anything doing it. I did it just for peace of mind. Will it shorten the life? No because you are talking about 30 minutes for a 100% duty cycle product that will last well of 1000 hours or more if you take care of it.

It would be recommended to insert your oil filter, fill with oil, open the drain valve and let run for approximately 30 minutes to break in the motor and pump.

What's the recommended hose size?
Is 1/4" the recommended hose size for this compressor? What would be the downside to upgrading to a 3/8" hose?
-
BlueDevil1975· 10 years ago
I use a 50-ft 1/4 hose and it works fine. The 3/8" hose would work just as well but for more demanding jobs.

-
ProductExpert41· 11 years ago
The hose size recommended is 1/4". The downside to upgrading to a 3/8" hose would be a higher CFM at a lower PSI.

Are there actual current usage (surge and nominal) for this compressor?
I have an outlet in my garage with a 15 Amp breaker and I'd like to know that I'm not going to continually trip it with this compressor.
