  1. What kind of starting amps does this compressor require?

    I have a 25 hp IR and it takes 358 amps to start and only 65 to run.

    1. This rotary screw compressor requires 135 starting amps (3-phase, 230 volts). It draws 19.6 running amps. The recommended 3-phase, 230 volt breaker/fuse is 35 amps. The included refrigerated dryer draws 30 starting amps/5 running amps. The dryer requires 115 volt, single-phase power.

  2. What's the advantage of having a 3ph compressor over a 1ph compressor?

    1. The difference between the two is the wiring used and power output. In most cases residential locations are compatible with 110/120 volt single phase and commercial buildings tend to be used with 230/240 three phase. Single phase units have one power line and one neutral. Three phase systems have three alternating power wires and one neutral wire. Three phase systems tend to output more efficient electricity. The advantage of having a three phase system is it will take less power to operate and will allow more power to run in the system being used. We recommend consulting a licensed professional for assistance installing these units.
