check the shaft size. each lawn mower has different size shaft for blade. this one didn't work for my mower and Honda doesn't make blade adapters for it. if the this shaft is not identical to yours it won't work.

Can this motor be used on a log splitter?

absolutely NOT. Go to nearest Northern tool store and ask them to help you and have them order it for your log splitter to find out exactlly which engine is for your model log splitter or go to manufacturer of your engine, give them all the facts about your log splitter and your engine and ask for exact replacement engine. It will be costly if you order the wrong engine.

The vertical shaft engine is designed for walk mowers and chippers/vacs. It is not designed for log splitter application.
