    1. This pump would need to be primed when dry. It would also need to be primed if it has sat for a long period of time not in use. The plug on the top of the pump head is used for priming.

  7. Have a large old mud bottom pond with Koi, it is filled with black muck, lots of pine straw and leaves. need to remove 2-3 ft of muck/pinestraw/leaves. Will a trash pump work? I tried a semi trash pump and it jammed immediately and lost prime. help pleas

    1. A trash pump can be used for this type of application. We recommend placing the suction hose into the water and not directly into the muck. The solid handling capacity should also be considered. This particular trash pump can handle solids up to 13/16" in diameter.

  9. What is flow? Is it the distance the pump could cover?

    1. Flow refers to the volume of water. In this case you will push 11,220 gallons of water per hour (GPH). This will change based on the PSI, or pounds-per-square-inch. The total distance it will push the water is 98ft. at the maximum 40 PSI. The GPH will also change based on the distance of the hose from the pump.
