Honda 187cc premium residential, horizontal shaft engine features overhead cam technology. The GC Series is incredibly quiet and utilizes the world's first internal timing belt. Honda has taken their technology one step further with the development of the GC Series, a line of rugged, powerful and economical overhead cam engines designed specifically for home-use and recreational applications.   1. What is the horsepower rating of this motor? I am trying to replace a 5HP motor at that spec is not listed.

    1. Yes this will work great in place of that 5hp. Just be sure to measure the crankshaft size and length to get the proper fit.

  2. How do you drain the carburetor  The owner’s manual does not match the engine

    1. Per the manual, Use a siphon pump (commercially available) and siphon the fuel
      out of the fuel tank into an approved gasoline container. Place an approved gasoline container below the carburetor, and use a funnel to avoid spilling fuel. Loosen the carburetor drain screw and drain the carburetor into an approved gasoline container. After draining is completed, tighten the carburetor drain screw.

    Is this engine set up so a throttle cable can be used, or is it a fixed RPM Motor???

    1. This engine has a manual throttle and not a remote throttle. A remote throttle would allow a cable to be attached for control. A manual throttle means you cannot connect a cable and the throttle control is located on the outside of the engine. Though you may be able to adjust the throttle, it is recommended to be run at fast speed or wide open only on this engine.
