  1. Is this transfer switch FLUSH wall mountable?

    Will this transfer switch mount between studs on a basement wall? Will it be flush with the sheet rock on a finished wall?

    1. Yes it is! I mounted mine flush next to my existing panel.

  3. How many watts will this transfer switch be able to handle. I'm looking at purchasing Generac's portable generator that provides 17,500 watts. Will this switch work with that generator?

    1. This transfer switch would not work for a generator that has a 50 amp receptacle. It can only be used with generators that have a 30 amp L14-30 receptacle. We do not carry a Generac Homelink manual transfer switch for 50 amps.

  4. I have a Generac iq3500, will it work with this transfer switch? the iq3500 has a L5-30 outlet, so is there a different cord or adapter I could use since this transfer switch uses a L14-30?

    1. This transfer switch can be used with the Generac iq3500 with a power adapter. Northern Tool does not currently offer an adapter for L5-30 to L14-30.

    1. The maximum wattage at 30 amps 240 volt is 7200 watts.

  6. Are the breakers replaceable - I need a 2 pole 20a breaker, not the 30a 2 pole that is shown in the picture

    1. The breakers are replaceable. The breakers shall not exceed 50 amps rating.

    1. The transfer switch would work with any generator that has a 30 amp L14-30 receptacle.

  8. can i extend or buy a longer cord for the generator to switch

    I am wondering if i can extend the cord on the switch from 10 to 30 or 50 feet, is that possible?

    1. A 10 foot cord is included with the kit. We offer longer cords: item 100015 (20'), item 100016 (40'), and item 49559 (50').

  10. outdoor rated?

    My main panel is outdoors. Can I install this transfer switch outdoors next to my main panel? Is there any documentation available for this?

    1. The transfer switch is not rated for outdoor use. A manual is included with the purchase that will have information on how to install the unit. It would be best to reach out to the manufacturer for further assistance with installation questions.
