This Generac GP8000E Portable Generator is easy to use in a variety of applications and offers affordable reliability. The Generac 420cc OHV engine has electric start and includes the required battery. 7.5 gallon steel fuel tank with fuel gauge gives you 9.5 hours run time at 1/2 load. Hardened steel tube cradle with folding, lockable handles and 9.5in. solid wheels for easy portability. Not available for sale in CA.

  1. This generator includes a battery charger. Can this charger be used continuously without removing?

    If you leave this charger on Generator will it over charge the battery?

    1. The instructions say not to leave the charger hooked up for more than 48 hrs.
      I added and use a battery tender to insure that the battery is charged and ready when I need it.

    2. Instructions state "do not leave charging unit plugged in for longer than 48hrs"

    3. The battery should be charged away from the unit and cannot be charging for over 48 hours per charge. Running the generator will not charge the battery.

    1. This GP series generator does not have true power technology so the THD would not be less than 5 percent.

    1. The Generac GP8000E Portable Generator does not have idle control. Please see my recommendation below for item number 167933 which has idle control.

  9. Voltage Regulation -is it a true sine wave or square?

    What type of Voltage Regulation is used on this unit. Will it properly operate the computer controls in my new residential Trane SV92 Furnace ,XR13 3T Condenser - (Furnace and Air-conditioning Unit?)

    1. The GP8000E does not feature our True Power Technology, where the unit’s total harmonic distortion is limited to less than 5%. This particular feature makes the units compatible with most sensitive electronics. If any of the items you intend to run are a sensitive item, we would recommend considering our XP Series generators to properly power those loads

  10. Convert to propane

    Is it permissible to convert to also operate on propane?

    1. This item will run on gasoline. Converting this unit to propane will void the manufacturer’s warranty.
