Timed at about 7 min for me with just vent valve open. Flow maybe limited by small ID of stop valves. I use a velcro strap to hold nozzle open if fully draining caddy. Wait is then easy.

Portability is Standard
Fill-ups just got a whole lot easier
From the farm to the cabin, for work or for play, refueling has never been so simple. Designed for industrial, commercial and recreational applications, the Duramax caddy provides a safe and convenient way to bring fuel directly to wherever you need it, without breaking your back.
Easy-rolling design
Two sturdy 6in. wheels are drop-tested with a full load to ensure you always get easy rolling mobility and long service life.
Built-in handles for easy lifting
Even a rolling product has the occasional need to be lifted … into a truck bed, onto a dock, or many other scenarios. That's why a sturdy handle was added at the top and finger recesses molded into the bottom, making it easy for two people to safely pick up the caddy, even when it's full.
Strap it in and it stays put
Recessed grooves are built into the tank to provide easy strapping locations that will hold tight in a fixed position and won't slip or slide during transport.
Rugged Design
A shell that's built to last
The Duramax is constructed of rugged and durable high-density polyethylene, so it won't rust or dent, offering long service life.
A hose that's up to the task
The 10-ft. long, EPA automotive-grade rubber hose is designed to avoid kinking and stay flexible for safe and convenient refueling in almost any weather. A spring is built into the hose at the base to provide extra reinforcement and enhanced performance.
A home for the hose
Convenient bolt-on hose storage allows you to neatly hang the hose right on the pump for safe keeping, protecting the hose and pump head from damage between uses.
Easy to Use
2 ways to top off your tank
Elevate the Duramax above the equipment to be filled and gravity allows you to depress the pump handle just once to refuel without continual pumping. When used at the same level as the equipment being filled, the pump acts as a siphon and will require pumping. While in siphon mode, the pump transfers fuel at a rate of up to 2 gallons per minute – a rate equivalent to most EPA gas can spouts!
Mess-free pump design
Includes patented Flo n'go® Siphon/Pump for easy and safe delivery of fuel without spillage or complication. The spout shuts off flow prior to the nozzle, allowing the last drops of fuel to smoothly trickle out without spilling or splashing.
Easy to refill
Durable fill cap with venting device allows air flow during fueling for smooth fuel transition. A fully open vent cap optimizes fuel discharge.
Easy to maintain
Dual brass shutoff valves at the base of the tank and base of the fill hose allow for removal of the hose for safe transportation and easy refueling. Fully opening both valves helps to maximize fuel discharge.
Safe and kind to the environment
Meets UN and DOT transportation requirements
UN certified for the transportation of fuel. One brass shutoff valve on the hose and another on the container seal internal pressure and restrict gasoline vapors. The secondary shutoff valve allows you to easily remove the hose if necessary.
CARB certified
Meets all CARB (California Air Resource Board) requirements and is available for purchase in all 50 states.
Environmentally Responsible
Studies show that North Americans spill more than nine million gallons of gasoline each year while filling small engines, generators, boats, lawn mowers and other outdoor equipment. The Duramax patented Flo 'n' Go pump is designed to eliminate spillage and overfills by giving you simple-to-use control to quickly stop and restart the flow of gas as needed.

How fast does fuel flow if located well above vehicle tank (hose would be almost vertical)? How many minutes to empty all 14 gallons?
-
Rick12345678· 5 years ago

-
MasterCall· 10 years ago
It takes approx. 10 minutes to empty ( down to 1 gallon) with cap removed ( when safe to remove, fuel below capped area).

AlanInGeorgia· 14 years ago
It is not a very fast flow. I put my caddy about a foot above my diesel tank and it still takes about 10 minutes to empty it into the tank. This is still faster than using that awkward nozzle pump, but slower than siphoning.

-
DFC99· 15 years ago
It takes over 5 minutes in my experience. I only elevate the tank a few inches above the level of the tank but the flow limit seems related to the diameter of the fuel line than pressure generated by gravity.

I don't get it so high that the hose is almost straight but I do lift it 6 feet above the vehicle. Takes 5 to 10 minutes to empty.

This fuel caddy will empty approximately 2 gallons per minute. This will not completely empty. It is like the fuel tank on your vehicle.

Is there a gauge to let you know how much fuel is in the caddy?
-
oakalovet· 6 years ago
No gauge. But like most poly containers it's semi transparent so you can see the fuel level within

No. One of my few complaints. I'm thinking of creation a "dip stick" style gauge that I can dangle through the fuel filler door.

will this work if place lower than the destination tank?
-
hobbyfarmernc· 10 years ago
Yes, it will, but you would need to use the pumping action built into the nozzle (repeatedly squeezing and releasing the handle), which is slow going.

-
Johnny68· 12 years ago
Yes, you just have to pump the handle. It takes a while but when filling my motorcycle it's great.

-
JerryCan· 12 years ago
Yes, the handle is equipped with a pump so you can pump upward against gravity. It flows at a slower rate but your forearms will benefit from it.

-
ProductExpert19· 12 years ago
This will work if lower than the destination tank if you continually pump the handle in order to have the fuel flow. If you want to use in gravity feed (fuel automatically flows), it will have to be higher than the destination tank.

what is the opening on the back for
-
MasterCall· 10 years ago
There isn't an opening on the back. It is a factory depression in the plastic made when tank is molded allowing to attach the hose hanger with bolts to the front of the tank.

There is no opening on the back. There is an indentation that the bolt holding the hose rack goes through. If your's has a opening on the back... you may want to consider returning it for a good one.

Handle Strength
I have created a hoist to lift my caddy above the gernerator that I will be filling, will the cady handle hold a full caddy when lifted 6 feet high?

Pumping
Is fuel dispensed strictly by siphoning or is the hose handle a pumping device that uses hand squeezes to dispense the fuel when nozzle is higher than the fuel level in the tank?
-
hobbyfarmernc· 10 years ago
It works two ways: 1) Yes, the hale on the nozzle activates a pumping action. you can pump "uphill", but it is slow going.
2) it will flow by gravity (caddy elevated higher than the tank you are filling). This is much faster than pumping the handle.Helpful?
-
Gleo· 15 years ago
It is best as a siphon because it's quickest and easier on your forearm but yes, you can pup upward if you need to.

Taz7· 15 years ago
It works 3 ways. gravity feed, if it's higher than the receiving tank; Siphon feed, by using the diaphram to start the flow; or diaphram feed, to pump it up to the tank opening. This gets pretty tiring on the hand after awhile though.
Helpful?
-
mkcdl· 15 years ago
It is a gravity feed system. The unit needs to be higher than what you are transferring into. The nozzle handle does not 'pump' anything.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert7· 15 years ago
There is 3 different ways this can be used. It is a gravity fed unit.
1. Gravity feed unit: (When the caddy is above tank being filled)
- If caddy is in a vertical position- insert nozzle into tank to be filled
- squeeze handle, fuel will flow, let go of handle fuel will stop.2. For Siphon use:
- If caddy is in a horizontal position, follow instructions as above, EXCEPT squeeze handle repeatedly until fuel flows- hold handle to continue flow.3. For Pump use: (When the caddy is below the tank to be filled.)
- Insert nozzle into tank to be filled. Squeeze handle repeatedly until desired fuel level has been reached.Helpful?

Does this product include a ground wire and clamp?
Liquid transfer of any kind is susceptible to generating a static charge. Plastic containers are especially prone.
That is why plastic used for fuel containers is required to contain a conductive material. To prevent any chance of a static discharge igniting fuel vapor you need to have a fuel container at same potential as the vehicle hence the need for a ground wire.-
Rep454· 6 years ago
Mine does not have a ground wire.

The Flo n' Go Duramax Fuel Caddy has been tested by the manufacturer on dirt road conditions and it traveled very well. The wheels are 6" in diameter. It will roll over very small rock, such as what you would find on a dirt road, however I cannot state a definite answer as it will depend on the size, quantity, etc.

Why no diesel???
Some one else asked a question if diesel could be stored in these containers. My question is, is it only due to the color being red and not yellow to signify diesel, or is there some other problem in putting diesel in these fuel caddies?
-
MasterCall· 10 years ago
I use mine exclusively for diesel and have had absolutely no problems, so, yes I believe that is is due to the color that it is in "safety" requirements that is is for gasoline only. I keep my tank in the basement area of my RV and I'm the only one that uses it so I don't have a problem with someone using it thinking is contains or is used for gasoline, plus I also have put a tag on it that says "DIESEL ONLY" on the tank both front and back !!!!
Helpful?
-
hobbyfarmernc· 10 years ago
I own two of these. I store Diesel fuel in one of them. I know of no reason or regulation that prevents it from being used to store diesel fuel.
I painted the one that I use for Diesel yellow (the "universal color" to signify Diesel fuel storage) using "peelable" spray paint. I used the "peelable" kind of paint so that I can revert back to Red in the future if I desire to use for gasoline.Helpful?
-
JerryCan· 12 years ago
Because not enough people want diesels for the company to manufacture. But, what I did was place Yellow Duct Tape around the top one time so it doesn't get confused with my gas can. It's good for all fuels.

-
ProductExpert12· 12 years ago
The Flo n Go Fuel Caddy can be used to store diesel. If there would be an emergency, others would need to know that diesel is being stored in this instead of gasoline.

Can you replace the shut-off valve on the tank with another fitting?
I wan t to use the tank as an extended run tank for my generators. What happens if I loosen the brass nut which holds the shut-off valve to the tank? Are there parts inside the tank which will come loose??
-
Rick12345678· 5 years ago
Leave original tank valve as is. Outlet threads are standard garden hose 11.5NH so just start from there to make up your fuel line.
