  1. Does this need an adapter to fit a standard 55 gallon drum?

    1. No. Fits any standard 55 gallon drum.

  2. Can this pump survive biodiesel. I notice it's not listed in your specs.

    1. This pump can handle up to B20 (20% bio-diesel blended with 80% diesel fuel). It's not designed to pump used vegetable oi.

    2. If, when you say bio-diesel, you are referring to refined bio-diesel, then yes, this pump can handle up to B20 (20% bio-diesel blended with 80% diesel fuel). However, if you are referring to used vegetable oil, then no, the FR112 is not designed for this product. Thanks for the great question.

  3. I'm fueling an aircraft. Is there a grounding wire from the pump with an alligator clip that I can attach to the plane's exhaust pipe?

    1. This Fill-Rite Cast Aluminum Heavy-Duty Rotary Drum Pump is not designed to be used for fueling aircraft. It does not include a grounding wire available.

      We do not recommend using any of our pumps for use with fueling aircraft, so no, there is not a ground wire with an alligator clip to attach to your plane.

      Please do not use the pump for this purpose.

  4. A longer output hose ?

    Does Northern sell a longer output hose than can be used instead of the short 8 inch that comes with the item ?

    1. You can use item numbers 155066 or 38995 with this pump. Please see below.

      You can use Northern Tools item numbers 155066 or 38995 with this pump.

      Because the operator needs to be at the hand pump to pump fuel, keeping the hose at 8 feet ensures that they are close enough to see what is happening while dispensing.

      If you increase your hose length, be sure that you know what is happening at the dispensing nozzle. If you cannot see the nozzle, you will spill fuel as you won't know when the tank is full, or worse, the dispensing nozzle falls out of the tank.

      One last point; if you go with a different hose than those I have mentioned, make sure the hose contains a static wire to bleed off any static electricity that builds in the hose. If the hose does not have a static wire, you will get a static spark at the nozzle.

  5. on the rotary hand pump can you add a flow meter to it.

    1. You can add a meter to the hand pump. Item # 109589 will work great. Make sure you pump at a minimum rate of 5 GPM.

    2. Thanks for your inquiry on the FR112NT hand pump!

      Yes, you can add a meter to the hand pump. Use the Fill-Rite Model 807CMK. Just make sure you pump at a minimum rate of 5 GPM. Meter accuracy is negatively affected by pumping at a rate of less than 5 GPM. If the rate is too low, the meter may not register at all.

      To install the meter, you will need to remove the vacuum breaker from the top of the pump and install it in the side port (where the hose normally goes). Using the nipple and street elbow that are included in the 807CMK, you will mount the meter in the top port of the pump.

  6. when connected to a "gas caddy" will this pump leak if laying on its side?

    1. Thanks for the question. If the gas caddy is laying on its side and the suction pipe is under the liquid level in the tank, fuel will leak from the spout that comes with the pump.

    2. This Fill-Rite Rotary Hand Pump is meant to be used upright. If it will be permanently mounted on its side, it won’t leak, but it will not pump.

  7. My diesel tank is 48” deep will this pump work with the suction pipe only being 38” long?

    1. The maximum suction on the pump is 48". You may replace the suction tube with a black or galvanized pipe in the length needed. The thread size will be a 1" MNPT.

  9. Would this pump work for pumping urethane (polyol and/or isocyanate)?

    1. This rotary drum pump cannot be used to transfer urethane. Northern Tool doesn't carry a similar pump that's designed/approved for urethane.
