  1. No Till Capable?

    Can this planter be used a a no till or must you use this planter in a prepared seed bed?

    1. I doubt that this planter works as a no-till. Even using it on prepared beds, i found that uneven ground causes some seed to land on the surface. I went over my seeded plots with a cultipacker to make certain seeds were covered in uneven areas of the plot.

    2. This seed planter is not no till capable. It must be used on a prepared/tilled seed bed.

  2. what is the distance between seeds within a given row?

    1. When I planted soy beans...seeds were set 3-5 inches from one to the next.

  3. How does it put the seed into the ground or does it just drop the seed on top of the dirt?

    1. The planter mechanically automates a 4 step process, 1. Planter digs a shallow trench (adjustable depth), 2. Seeds drop into the trench approximately 3-5 inches from each other, 3. Rubber roller places ground back over the seed. 4. Metal wheel packs the ground in the final step.

    2. The seeds are ground driven and the depth is controlled by adjustment of the two 13 inch diameter pneumatic tires.

  4. Can I plant pumpkin seeds with this planter?

    1. The planter is designed to plant corn and bean seeds. The planter will work with seeds that are similar in size. Additional plates are not available.

    1. This unit does not have any markers, use the wheel tracks for spacing.

    1. You can just flush out the remaining seed and clean the hopper with water when you are finished.
