  1. Exactly how does this spear fit on to the bucket?

    1. There is a lip on the spear above the bar that holds the chain. The front end loader lip slides between the spear lip and the bar. When you tighten the chain, it pulls the spear lip up tight to the bucket.

    2. The spear is attached to the bucket using a clamp on turnbuckle. The complete installation instructions are listed in the manual on our website.

    1. This unit will fit any width of bucket. If the bucket is larger, chains can be added to accommodate.

  3. How long is the chain and how does it attach

    Concerning the "Farm Star Equipment Clamp-On Bucket Bale Spear, Model# 830190"
    How long is the chain and how does it attach to the bucket? Does the chain go underneath and around the bottom of the bucket and then attach to the boom on the top of bucket? Also long is the chain?
    And does how does it attach to the front of the bucket where the lip of the bucket goes? Do you have pictures of the hay spear attached to a bucket? Thank you.

    1. This unit will slide over the lip of your bucket and the 5’ chain will wrap underneath the bucket up into the top of the turnbuckle. For more detailed installation instructions please see page 10 in the owner’s manual listed above on our site.

  4. I have teeth on my tractors bucket will that impact how this item fits. The teeth approx 2.5" tall and extend approx 2.5" past the bucket edge

    1. The attachment only has about an inch of clearance so it will not clear teeth which extend 2.5 inches past the bucket edge. This bucket bale spear is intended for a bucket with a straight cutting edge and not on one which has teeth. It will not fit onto the bucket with the 2.5 inch teeth.

  5. will this attach to any type of front end loader bucket?

    1. This Farm Star Equipment clamp-on bale spear attaches to a front end loader using a turnbuckle and chain system, the cutting edge on the bucket should measure less than 1 inch thick.

      Keep in mind that the loader must have a lift capacity of 1000 pounds greater than the weight of the bale to be handled.
