You would remove the battery from the hedge trimmer and remove the locking nuts, blade guard, washers and tip guard from the cutter bar. Turn it upside down to remove the screws securing the gear case cover. Lift off the gear case cover, clean out any old grease, remove all blade mounting bolts and washers and carefully pull out the felt seal. Lift out the outer spur gear, lower blade, spacer plate and upper blade. To put a new blade on: Position the new first (lower) blade with the bevels pointing down and the indexing mark facing the drive gear. Place the washer and the second (upper) blade into position with its bevel pointing up. Apply fresh gear grease to the lower gear and blades. Reinstall the second gear, ensuring its indexing mark aligns with the drive gear. Reinstall the felt seal, pack the gearbox with new grease, and put the gear case cover back on. Reattach the blade bolts, protector, and nose guard. Tighten the blade bolts completely, then back them off by a quarter turn to set the proper blade tension before securing the nuts.
