  1. Tank Storage?

    Is the tank actually stored within the body of the heater itself, so that if you roll it around the tank goes with it?

    4. Insert the 20 lb propane cylinder into the rear of the heater and position it such that the outlet of the cylinder valve is facing towards the front-left corner of the unit.

    3. The heater could be used in the porch. Just be sure to follow all safety precautions listed in the manual. When the heater is not in use the heater and propane tank would need to be stored outside or remove the tank from the heater and store outside.

    1. Certainly. It is just a heater and needs the fuel no matter how it gets there.

    2. This is a direct-fired cabinet construction heater for indoor construction. The heater must be placed where it is not directly exposed to water spray, rain, and/or dripping water. Its intended use is primarily the temporary heating of buildings or structures under construction, alteration or repair. All the products of combustion generated by the heater are released into the area being heated. This heater operates at approximately 99% combustion efficiency but still produces a small amount of carbon monoxide. Humans can tolerate small amounts of carbon monoxide for short periods. Carbon monoxide can build up in a heated space and failure to provide adequate ventilation could result in poisoning or death.

  4. how long is the hose and assembly with this heater?

    1. The hose is only about a foot long, just long enough to connect the tank outside of the heater. The tank is then moved inside the heater for use.

    1. No provisions for a thermostat. There are three settings on the heater,
      low (6000 BTU),
      med (12000BTU), and
      high (18000 BTU)

  6. Emergency Use

    Due to low income, expenses and heater portability. Trying to justify heater not only for outside/shop use; but for home in emergency. This past winter was temps below zero, and some areas were without gas/heat. Can unit be used for home heat emergency use? What about for travel trailers? Ours is used for deer camp and some travel. This looks ideal heating for camp and assist trailer central (propane) heater in low temps.

    1. This was tested indoors for heating a 20 x16 foot open ceiling room, there was no appreciable odor to the product of these catalytic burners.It was used for three days with normal ventilation, That is no extra window or door openings than without the heater. On a combustible floor a metal oil drip pan the type used under a car in the garage( $10.00 at local auto parts store) was used in front of the burners when three panels were lit. The metal stayed cool whereas vinyl or wood surface would get quite warm.

    2. This heater is intended more for inside construction areas that would have some ventilation. It would not be recommended for inside the home a travel trailer. A better choice for this application might be item #19854 as it is approved for indoor use for emergency heat and does not require any electricity to run. It does require a minimum of a 100 pound cylinder.

  7. Will this work

    I want to use this in my motothome It is 400 sf inside and I want to use this heater hooked up to a quick connector when it is parked to save electricty. the motorhome has a 70 gallon built in tank and is equiped with a low pressure regulator and it currently runs a stove refrigerator and gas furnace. Is this possible with this unit. DynaGlo Propane cabinet heater Model #RA18LPDGD

    1. Use your gas furnace. This thing will take up space and probably won't work worth a darn.

  8. what would I have to do to hook this heater up to a bigger (100 lb) tank?

    I'm thinking of using this heater inside, but don't want the propane tank inside...I envision a line coming through the wall, with a shutoff valve on the inside, and then having a hose or other flexible line going to the heater...Is that feasible? Reasonable?

    1. You may connect this to a larger tank you would have to simply add additional gas line to fit you needs. i should mention that this heater is built to store the 20# tank inside of it. You may want to look at some other propane heaters for your application.

    2. Of course it is. Go ahead and try it. Use one of the hoses shown beloe Go to your hardware stroe and ge a good brass shutoff valve.

  9. Is a filter needed/recommended?

    The "Buddy" line of heaters specifies an in-line propane filter as well as warnings on leaving pressure in rubber hoses due to oily residue leached from the rubber propane feed hose.
    Oily residue destroyed my last Big Buddy...is there a shutoff procedure that "vents" the hose?
    "Buddies" are supposed to be shutoff at the tank to allow trapped gas in the rubber line to burn off. Is this unit somehow different? Due to short hose length?

    2. No, this DynaGlo cabinet heater does not need or recommend a filter for operation like the "Buddy" heaters require.

      This heater includes the hose and regulator required for safe operation.

  10. can this be used inside, and how many hours does it run on a 20 lb tank>

    1. Inside use should be used with caution. The owner's manula states that this unit is for construction use and not for indoor use. Maybe that is lawyer / liability language but it does have an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) that would shutot off the unit if the oxygen was being depleted. I would not use it in a very tight and small room, and certainly not overnight or unattended. A carbon monoxide (CO) sensor in the area where this unit is being used would be a good idea. The owner's manual has the burn duration for a 20 lb tank.

    2. This is intended as a construction heater. It is never recommended to have a propane cylinder inside. On the high setting it would last approximately 22-24 hours.
