The CURT MV round bar weight distribution hitch offers a smooth ride and level towing with its heavy-duty components and built-in lubrication system. From travel trailers to popup campers, the CURT MV WD hitch is the perfect camping companion to let you Bring It. The strength of the MV round bar WD hitch begins with its heavy-duty, formed steel head. The formed construction allows for a precise design and supplies the durability needed to manage the weight of heavy trailers. Something unique to the MV weight distribution hitch is its grease zerk fittings, built directly into the head, allowing for easy, continuous lubrication at the spring bar mounting location. The spring bars are installed from the underside of the WD head and are made with forged steel for optimum strength. Like other CURT weight distribution hitches, the MV round bar comes with a highly adjustable shank and chain hookup brackets for the perfect amount of tension to level the load. The shank fits any 2in. x 2in. receiver tube opening, making it compatible with most class 3, class 4 and class 5 trailer hitches. The head is also compatible with our 2-1/2in. weight distribution shanks to match the heaviest of class 5 hitches. The hookup brackets and spring bars of the CURT MV WD hitch use chains and a simple snap-up design for easy setup and adjustment. This particular MV round bar weight distribution hitch offers a towing capacity ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 lbs. GTW and 800 to 1,000 lbs. TW. It comes with installation hardware, though a trailer ball must be purchased separately. The built-in sway control attachment tabs on the head allow it to readily accept one or two sway control units #17200. To protect this WD hitch on the way to your next destination and beyond, it also comes with a durable carbide powder coat finish.

  1. Can I install and adjust or calibrate myself or do I need to go to a professional shop to have it done?

    1. Steps to Calibrate:

      1. Measure before hooking up — Use a tape measure to record the height of your truck's front and rear bumpers before attaching the trailer.
      2. Attach the trailer (without spring bars engaged) and note how the rear of the truck sags.
      3. Engage the spring bars and adjust the chain bracket tension until the truck returns to (or near) its original pre-hitch measurements.
      4. Check level — Both the tow vehicle and trailer should be level when calibrated correctly.
      5. Adjust the head angle using the heavy-duty adjustable shank to fine-tune leveling.

  5. Can you unhook sway bars without taking tension off

    1. If the spring bars are set up properly, there would be way too much tension on them to move without taking the tension off first. If someone tried to do it and achieved their goal, there would most likely be a severe injury occurred.

    1. You would be able to back up with this Weight Distribution Hitch hooked up. You would not be able to go in reverse if you have a sway control hooked up.
