  1. How to check oil

    1. The generator would need to be parked on level ground. Open the exterior compartment door and unscrew the dipstick. Wipe it clean and reinsert it fully and screw it back in, the remove it again to read the oil level.

  2. Is the existing start switch and wiring harness from an existing 4000W Onan (not a 4000i) simply a plug and play when replacing with a new 4000i? Or, is a new starter switch and harness required?

    1. Please refer to the installation manual and the generator spec sheet to understand the differences between the two. If you are using an Onan starter switch, it should work with the new model. Please note that there are physical differences between the two, such as airflow and the location of the electrical connections, so you will need to review the full installation manual to understand those differences.
