  1. Are these reels designed to function properly outside, in ice and snow for temperature lows of -20 degrees? Thank you

    1. The reel is powder coated. It is designed to be used indoors or outdoors. It is recommended that you bring the reel indoors. Overtime, the elements will deplete the life of the reel. Snow, ice and below-zero temperatures can really deplete the life of the reel.

  2. Is the 112Y series weather proof? Looking to find one that I can wall mount outside and use for 4 season New England weather. Needs to store 100’ 12/3 wire.

    1. The reel is powder coated. It is designed to be used indoors or outdoors. The reel is weather proof. It is recommended that you bring the reel indoors. Overtime, the elements will deplete the life of the reel.

  3. Can you tell me the difference between the 112y4, 112y8 and 112y12 models?

    1. The differences would be in the amount and size of cord that each can be used with. The 112Y-4 can be used with 300 feet of 16/3 cord, 150 feet of 12/3 cord, 75 feet of 10/3 cord and 40 feet of 8/3 cord.

      The 112Y-8 can be used with 300 feet of 12/3 cord, 135 feet of 10/3 cord and 80 feet of 8/3 cord.

      The 112Y-12 can be used with 225 feet of 10/3 cord or d 150 feet of 8/3 cord.

  4. What is the diameter of the hole for the hose to go through?

    1. This is a cord storage reel, if you want to use this for hose it would hold 50 feet of 3/8 inch id hose or 30 feet of 1/2 id hose.

  5. what is the width between the screw holes in the base of the model 112y-4

    I am thinking about securing this reel to a deck post.

    1. The width between the mounting holes would be 3". It is 6" overall width.

  6. I have no clue what 10/3, 12/3, 16/3 etc means

    I am considering buying this for my generator cord which is 100 feet long, 10 guage, 4 wire, 30 amps 125/250volts. will it work? Tks.

    1. The numbers do reflect the gauge of the cord. 10/3 is a 10 gauge cord with 3 wire, 12/3 is a 12 gauge cord with 3 wire. The lower the number the heavier the cord. Northern does not have any extension cords with 4 wire.

    1. Coxreels doesn't make a swivel mount for this reel and none of their other swivel mounts have bolt patterns to match it.

  8. What are the dimensions? Can the cord be plugged in while reeling?

    1. The dimensions on this storage reel are 13"L x 12-1/2"W x 6"H. This item is just the storage reel itself. The cord is not included and a cord can not be plugged in while reeling.
