  1. Can you suggest some electric motors which are compatible with this pump?

    1. This pump requires a 3 horsepower electric motor that turns counter clockwise at 3600 RPM. At this time, we do not carry a motor with these specifications.

    2. I am running a 5hp, 3ph. "C" face motor with an open spool hand valve. This is moving a hyd. cylinder on a pressing application. You will have to find an adapter to go from the "C" face/frame number on your motor to the USA4F17 pattern on this pump. Lovejoy style coupling to hook together.

  4. what is an open center hydraulic system?

    1. In an open center valve, the pressure port is "open" to tank in the neutral position. Basically, if the valve is not shifted to the A or B work ports, then the fluid can free flow back to tank.

  5. Is 5 hp minimum for a gas or electric motor?

    I see that this pump is rated to work with a minimum 5 hp motor, is that 5 hp gas or 5 hp electric? I have heard that a gas engine hp rating is about half as effective as an electric motor's rating. This doesn't make sense to me but as I mentioned I have heard that a 5 hp electric motor would perform as good as a 10 hp gas engine. Any insight? Thanks

    1. I recently acquired a 5 gal/min. pump from a 5 hp 220volt hydraulic system and made a log splitter I powered it with a 5.5 hp gas motor. the motor stops dead if dead headed at about 1200 psi It does a great job on the smaller pieces up to 1000 psi The unit ran at 2500 psi all day in the hydraulic unit I removed it from, so I think your reasoning is very correct I am going to try a 2 stage pump The 5.5 hp won't handle the 5 gal/min at high pressure

    2. This Haldex 11 GPM, 2-stage pump requires the use of either a 5 hp gas engine, or a 3 hp electric motor.

    1. This pump has a 1/2" NPT outlet, it is not compatible with an ORB fitting.

  10. How many tons will it push on wood splitter

    1. This pump will put up to 2500 psi into the cylinder of a log splitter. To get the actual force you need to know the surface area of the piston in the cylinder that the hydraulic fluid is pressing on. For example a 3" diameter cylinder head, or bore size, would have a surface area of approximately 7.06 square inches. 2500 multiplied by 7.06 would be 17,650 pounds of force, or 8.825 tons.
