Can this fan function in a horizontal ceiling mount configuration?
-
Van67· 6 years ago
Problem would be with the shutters. They are intended to open with air pressure from the fan when it comes on and shut when it goes off. Gravity does the closing. So, in the horizontal position the fan would work, but the shutters would remain open all the time.

Vertical wall usage
I have a vaulted ceiling in my residence. A section in one room is vertical and backs to the attic space. Would this unit be appropriate? Will the shutters close when the unit is off?
Ref:"Canarm Exhaust Shutter Fan - 16in. Dia., 1,800/2,000/2,300 CFM, 1/8 HP, Model# XFS16"1 answer-
ProductExpert13· 11 years ago
This fan is appropriate to exhaust up to 2300 CFM. It will work on a vertical wall that will accommodate an 18" x 18" hole for the fan. A contractor should be consulted for any installation. A local professional will know the local laws and verify if it is a safe installation.
