The SaltDogg TGS07 11 Cubic Foot Tailgate Spreader is a large volume commercial tailgate spreader. It features a horizontal auger, stainless steel trough, and an included concealed vibrator that allows it to spread bulk salt or a 50/50 sand/salt mix from 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. The spreader has a low-profile, 11 cubic foot hopper. The hopper's frameless, double-wall poly construction is durable and highly corrosion resistant. The spreader mounts to a 2in. Class 4 hitch with patented horizontal and vertical adjustment. Its 12in. poly spinner can cast material up to 30ft. A 1/2 HP, 12V dual shaft gear motor is controlled by an included variable speed in-cab controller

  1. hopper opening sixe

    how wide is the hopper opening with door open? Can I fill it with a front loader?

    1. I fill it with a bobcat but the opening is smaller so a little shoveling is needed

    2. The width of the hopper with the lid open would be 45". It could be filled with a front end loader.

  2. Electrical connection & remote control

    Does this unit hookup to a typical trailer/accessory at the rear of the vehicle and does it have a remote control??

    1. Yes, it hooks up to a two inch standard tow receiver and has a control unit and kit to install in the cab

    2. This first step after disconnecting the frame from the hopper is to slide the frame into a typical receiver hitch at the rear of the truck. The rest of the installation steps are described in the owners manual.

      The unit comes with a wired control box for installation in the cab. It does not have a battery operated or corded hand control to use outside of the vehicle cab.

    1. The salt spreader is designed to allow access to the truck tailgate. It would mount to the 2-inch receiver hitch and may require some adjustment for clearance to the tailgate.

    1. This unit could spread fertilizer as long as it is the same size and consistency of salt or sand. This unit could not spread ice melt pellets.

    1. This units mounting bracket attaches to the trucks receiver hitch, with the body of the hopper resting on the trucks bumper and bolting to the mounting bracket. *See page 2 of the Product Manual listed on this website for diagrams*
