  1. BurCam water pump with 16 gallon tank vs 6.6 gallon tank

    What are the advantages or disadvantages of the 16 gallon tank water pump versus the 6.6 gallon water tank on the BurCam Shallow Well Jet Water Pump. Both have 3/4 hp motors, 900 mph and 1" ports.
    I am going to use the pump to water a 30 bed garden, each bed is 30" X 100' in length.

    1. If you are going to use this pump exclusively for your flowerbeds then I myself would choose the 6.6 gallon complete pump. Because when you’re using it for this purpose, you will probably and most likely water your flowerbeds with your hose nozzle completely open, the constant drawl on the palm will probably keep the pump running the whole time you’re using it. There will be no value at all for the pump to cycle on and off, and again in my opinion it will probably work better and last much longer if the pump stayed on all the time other than the constantly turning on and off while you’re using it. So, since the 6.6 gallon pump & tank is about $120 less than the 16 gallon pump & tank, not only would it be much better to use the 6.6 gallon unit, will also be $120 less in cost.

    4. This BurCam Water Pump with 16 gallon tank has a larger holding capacity for water due to the size of the tank. The pump will not need to run as often as the smaller capacity 6.6 gallon. This can help improve longevity of the pump.

  2. Low Pressure Switch

    Will this pump automatically shut off if the well start to run out of water?

    1. No and if you run the pump to long without water it could damage the seal.

    2. This pump will not automatically shut off if the well starts to run out of water. With this pump you will need to make sure that you have a constant supply of water available to prevent damage to the pump.

  3. When I shut off a sprinkler, will the pump shut off automatically? Or does it have to be shut off before the sprinkler is shut off?

    1. The pump will shut off when it reaches 50 PSI after the sprinkler is shut off.

    2. This is an on demand pump. It will come on and off when the water is turned on or off.

    1. This pump is rated at 67 DB (decibels) at 4 feet. Additional noises could be produced due to the set up of the pump.

  6. have a 825 ft water well pumping into a 5000gal tank, can I put this pump with the tank about 10 feet from storage tank and run my cabin water from it since the water is gravity fed to this pump

    1. This pump is not designed to be gravity fed, it is designed to be connected to a shallow well.

  7. Can I use it to boost the water supply pressure to my house?

    1. If your water supply is from your municipality/city, this pump is not designed for use as a booster pump. Click the link below to view a booster pump that is compatible with city water. The pump listed below accepts a maximum incoming pressure of 25 PSI. If your city water has a higher PSI rating than 25, you will also need an inline pressure regulator. We do not carry pressure regulators for use on the inlet side of the pump.

  8. 1" potable water lines

    I am very interested in this Burcam Shallow well pump but am having a difficulty locating 1" potable water hoses. Any suggestions on actually pumping potable water through the 1" outlet and intake?

    1. Northern Tool does not carry the hose for this pump. It is recommended to use any 1in. plastic type of tubing.

  9. My 400 gal storage tank is elevated 48" above ground. Can I mount this pump below the tank and use gravity feed to the pump without damaging it?

    1. The pump could not be mounted below the storage tank and gravity fed. This is intended to be set above ground inside in a dry location and connected to a shallow well in the ground.

  10. Thermal Overload Protection on model 506538ss

    I'm pumping directly from a 1500 gal water tank that is only a few feet away, both at ground level. If the water tank is empty will the motor shut off when it starts getting too hot? Thanks

    1. This BurCam Shallow Well Jet Water Pump with 16-Gallon Tank can not be run dry. The Thermal Overload protection is designed to shut off the motor if it starts to overheat. This feature does not protect the pump itself in the case of being run dry if the tank empties.
