Brinly’s 40in. tow-behind Aerator-Spreader combination attachment allows you to simultaneously aerate and spread granular materials. The heavy-duty spike aerator perforates the ground while the steel drop spreader drops seed, lime or fertilizer directly into the soil where it works fast and won’t wash away. This hard-working tool is built tough with durable tubular steel framing and drawbars. The 100 lb. capacity hopper is made from 18 gauge all-welded steel to minimize twisting and flexing when loaded. And the aerator’s 8” galvanized steel tine stars stay sharp, won’t rust and penetrate up to 2in. to allow air to reach the root system.

    1. The Brinly AS2-40BH-S spreads grass seed using a drop spreader mechanism, covering a 40-inch-wide path directly beneath the unit.

  2. Will this work with a compact tractor

    1. The aerator spreader would have a universal hitch pin to attach to a lawn tractor or an ATV. It would not work with a 3-point hitch.

  3. Can this unit be used for powdered fertilizer? I.e. kelp meal, ground oyster shells etc.

    1. The spreader can only work with granular material.

  4. Will this spreader work with a zero turn mower

    1. The aerator spreader will come with a universal hitch pin that will attach to most riding lawnmowers, lawn tractors, zero turn mowers or ATV's.

    1. This unit is not designed to be used without the aerator tines, they are not removable.

  7. The spreader has a metal plate to add weight like a cement block.   Is the metal plate extra?

    1. The weight tray for this is sold separately. It would have to be purchased from the mfg.

  8. Can u spread fertilizer, seed , Compost and lime with this. And how does the settings relate to fertilizer settings per se

    1. This can be used to spread fertilizer, seed, and pelletized lime. Compost can be spread, however it will need to be dry and and broken down enough to spread. Calculations for flow control settings and machine speed can be found on page 16 of the manual. The manual can be found on the manufacturer website.

  9. Is there adjustable seed dispensing? Looking for something that can drop soybeans without them pouring out

    1. This aerator does not offer adjustable seed dispensing.

  10. Can you adjust the depth the spikes will penetrate the soil? Wanting to use to plant various types of seeds and dont want it to be too deep. Thank you!

    1. The spike height is not adjustable. The spikes will penetrate less in dry soil. To penetrate up to 2", weight would need to be added to the tray.
