This Bird-X unit requires a 12 volt battery to operate which is not included. Northern does not carry the battery for this unit but it will be easily obtained locally. Full instructions on battery selection and installation included with unit.

Does this send out a constant sound or noise that will keep a woodpecker away from a large home? Can a human hear the sound? How does it work exactly?

This unit is designed to be programmed for specific species of woodpecker and will omit a sound that can be heard by humans. It can also be programmed for different modes and on/off times. Full instructions on how to program are listed in the manual.
