Reinforced steel at the base and along the top of the runways help provide a stable lift that completely eliminates the need for a cross member or additional structural support.   1. Can you install this lift in a home garage with a "+" control joint pattern?

    1 answer

    1. The scissor lift can be installed in a home garage, but not directly over or bridging the control joints. Any concrete anchor used to secure the lift must be a minimum of 6 inches away from any control joint, expansion joint, or significant crack in the concrete, You cannot span or bridge the lift frames over an expansion joint. The joint physically dividing the slab means the concrete is not one continuous structural unit, which poses severe safety and stability risks. A "+", "T", or grid control joint pattern means your concrete slab is broken up into individual sub-slabs (called panels). The lift's base frame and anchors must rest entirely on a single, continuous concrete slab/panel.

  2. Is this lift portable or does it have to be anchored to the floor?

    1. The scissor lift must be anchored to a concrete slab that has a minimum thickness of 4.25 inches, minimum compression strength of 4000 PSI and cured a minimum of 28 days. The lift should never be installed over an expansion joint, hand mixed concrete or drilled/cut into a post tensioned slab.
