The wall heater would be hot when it is running. The clearances for combustibles for the heater would be a minimum of 6" from the sides, 36" from the top, 6" from the floor and 0.25" from the rear wall.

how to light it?

This heater has a piezo igniter. you depress the control knob on pilot and hold while pressing the igniter button until you see a spark and it lights.

You would open the access door, turn the control knob to the pilot setting, press and hold it down, then press the igniter button repeatedly until the pilot flame ignites. Continue to hold the knob down for about 30-60 seconds to heat the thermocouple, then release it to be sure it stays lit. Once pilot is lit, turn the knob to the desired heat setting.

This unit cannot be connected to a thermostat. it has a thermobulb that will help regulate temperatures typically between 65 degrees and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This is preset, however, and is not anything that can be adjusted.

The DVAG models contain a thermo bulb that will reduce the gas flow through the gas valve to help regulate temperatures. The thermo bulb will both reduce or completely shut off the flame depending on the temperature. The thermo bulb is not able to be adjusted.
