Joinery
Joinery is the part of the woodworking process where a craftsman joins two pieces of wood to create something more significant. To do this process correctly, a woodworker will want the best tools to get their joinery job done. Some of the best joinery tools and machines that every woodworker should have in their workshop are a plate joiner, a pocket hole machine, a dovetailer machine and more. An artisan should also have a good deal of joining biscuits in their toolbox to help them create the best joints.
A plate joiner, sometimes known as a biscuit joiner, is a tool an artisan could use to join two pieces of wood quickly. A plate joiner does this by using a smaller circular saw blade to cut a crescent-shaped hole into the edges of two pieces of material, usually wood or wood composite. Then a glue-covered wood biscuit is placed into each slot so that the pieces of wood can be joined to make a joint. Another way to create a joint is to use a pocket hole machine. These joinery machines are rout low-angle pockets that can be used to form joints. One more machine a woodworker can use to make a joint is a dovetail machine. These machines specialize in cutting dovetail groves into two separate pieces of wood. Once cut, the pieces of wood could be joined together to create a strong joint. No matter what your joinery needs are, be it a new tool, machine or joiner biscuits, Northern Tool + Equipment is there to help.
