Dump Trailer Tarps
When hauling rocks, gravel, sand, cut branches, wood chunks, siding and construction pieces or any other debris, your state may have tarping laws and regulations. Dump trailer tarps are designed specifically for this purpose, keeping those on the road around you, protected from flying debris during transit. Dump trailer tarps and tarp kits are available in lots of sizes from 8ft. to 28ft. long. Dump trailer tarp kits minimize flapping by keeping your tarp in place at the front and rear of the truck bed or trailer. Solid tarp designs protect the load from the elements, or mesh tarp designs that allow air in and out during transport without blowing away. For manual or electric dump trailer tarp systems we carry complete tarping systems to high-torque gear motors, roller chains, tarp arms, motor covers, sleeves, retention bows, centering wedges, brackets and much more, our dump trailer tarp and accessories lineup has you covered for keeping your trailer covered.
Dump Trailer Tarp Frequently Asked Questions:
How do dump trailer tarps differ from regular tarps?
Dump trailer tarps are typically heavier duty than regular tarps. Made from vinyl, canvas and/or parachute material, dump trailer tarps are produced to optimal standards, typically with double stitching at stress points for longevity.
How do I choose the right dump trailer tarp size for my trailer?
Decide how far you want the tarp to lap down on the side of your trailer. Then add twice that distance to both the width and length of the trailer.
What is the best way to fold and store dump trailer tarps when not in use?
Lay your tarp flat. If it has a flap, fold it toward the center of the tarp. Next, take one side of the tarp and fold it lengthwise and inward to the middle. Repeat this type of fold on the other side. Make sure the tarp sides meet exactly in the center. (Adjust folds if necessary.) Then fold one side once more toward the middle. Repeat on the other side. Next, take one side of the tarp and fold it in half lengthwise one last time. Then go to the side of the tarp that does not have the flap and start rolling it toward the flap. Next bungee the tarp securely to keep it rolled, and it’s ready to store. Take the tarp to a cool, dry place far away from heat, humidity and UV rays which can damage it.
Can the tarps be repaired? Can the trailers?
Yes, in fact, you’ll find dump trailer tarp repair kits. Minor tears and mouse holes can be repaired with commercial tarp tape affixed to the tear or hole on each side of the tarp. More substantial tears may require patches, strong glue or stitches. Critical to repairing a dump trailer tarp is cleaning the area around the tear on each side of the tarp prior to repairing it to ensure the repair holds. In addition to fixing tarps, if you've got the tools and know-how, trailers can be beefed up or reinforced by welding in supports.
Can dump trailer tarps be used in adverse weather conditions?
Yes. Dump trailer tarps can typically withstand rain, wind and other harsh weather conditions.
