The Topsider Oil Changer has a clear vacuum hose and suction probe that reaches down through the dipstick tube to the bottom of the engine pan. Powerful vacuum pump action creates a strong suction that pulls the dirty oil and sludge into the Oil Changers tank.   1. Is there any window to tell how much oil has been sucked into the unit?

    1. NO... YOU WOULD NEED A MEASURING STICK TO GAUGE THE AMOUNT...

      They do give an example of how to tell when you've got all the oil out of the engine, but it can be tricky the first time to tell when you've hit "that moment" and have drained it completely.

      Otherwise, you have to know the amount of oil in the engine and know whether it will all fit in the capacity of the unit.

    5. There is no window. However when I finish draining oil, I dump the used oil into another container for proper disposal. I simply measure the oil when dumping to insure I get everything out and insure I am putting back the proper amount of oil. Not as easy as a window, but works very well for me, and I do not worry about a window leaking over the lifetime of the product.

    6. There is no window. You will have to judge how much is in it by lifting it and swishing it around. Holds two gallons of fluid.

    10. It does not have a window or gauge to tell how much oil is it the tank. You would need to remove the cap to look in and see how full it is getting.

  2. WILL THIS OIL CHANGER WORK WITH MY MOTORCYCLE

    THE MOTORCYCLE IS A 2008 HD FLSTC. IT HAS A 1-1/2 " DIP STICK OPENING.

    1. Insertion tube is much smaller diameter than stated size of your dipstick tube. It will work!

    2. The smallest hose that comes with it is about 1/4" outer diameter so it'll fit no problem!

    5. I see no reason why this unit would not work on your motorcycle. As long as the vacuum tube fits down into the crankcase, and the tube can get to the bottom of the crankcase, then you should have no problem. However, I don't know specifics about your engine.

  4. does this pump have an attachment that will go through the dipstick hole in newer cars, it seems vary small and restricted, want to use it on buick v6

    1. It comes with a semi ridged nylon tube for sliding down the dip stick hole. It slid into my mercrusier 4.3 V6 boat motor dip stick hole with no problem. It too is small. Had some wiggle room left too.

    2. The dipstick portion of the tubing is small and works on my 2005 SUV.

I have not tried to use the liquivac on car engines but the plastic tube that comes with the liquivac will definitely fits through the hole of the dipstick and it should be long enough to extend down to the oil tray of the vehicle. Technically, it should be able to suck out the oil from the car.

    Other than extracting oil, can this unit be reversed somehow to also pump in oil to engine/transmission? Additional parts required to do this?

    3. No,it can't be reversed.I picked up a gadget at my local auto parts store that screws onto a quart or gallon container that can pump the contents into a transmission,transfer case,differential,etc.

    4. Not Recommended! The container is built dome shaped to withstand negitive pressure including the seals on the cap and pump. Even modifying this container would probably leed to failure when tank is pressurized for pumping liquid out instead of in.

    Hello,
    I purchased this item in the past (couple years ago) and now it seems the pump has stopped working. Is there a way I can purchase just the pump, not the entire unit?

    1. Try oiling the pump. There should be a tiny hole near the handle that says "oil". Sounds like the seals could be dry and not sealing.
