I have had both mine running on the ice for ice fishing during temps as low as -20. Of course at that temp if they are sitting outside not running and are stone cold, naturally they are hard to start, so I would bring them in the shack to warm up for 10 min. Fire right up and run in that cold with no issues.

I used for dry camping with overnight temps of about 12 deg F with my second one fueled up on standby. In the morning when the first ran out of gas, I went out and started the second with one pull and it fired right up.

There is no set low temperature that the engine on this generator will run without problems. All small engines, even of the same make, will react differently to freezing conditions.

Draining the fuel
Is there a petcock or other device for draining the fuel tank and carburetor of fuel for storage, etc.? Or does it have to be siphoned out?
Thanks,
K-
Mike 0324· 5 years ago
Tank no, However there is a carb bowl drain screw phillips turn counter clock wish to drain the carb Treat your Fuel with Stable and the Fuel will stay fresh for at least 1 year.
When you want to drain the carb bowl close the vent cap and no more fuel will feed in the carb after you drain the bowl and avoid using any Fuel containing Ethanol if you can as this can cause your carb to clog and you will then have to take it apart and clean.
Stable really does what it's supposed to do I have used it for years just follow the recommended amounts and even after storing 6-8 months it will start within 3 pulls.
I hope this information has been helpfulHelpful?

The fuel would need to be siphoned out or drained from the barb at the bottom of the tank.

If I purchase two of these generators and parallel them, will I be able to run my well pump which is 220 volt?
-
PowerhorseExpert6· 3 years ago
The receptacles on these Powerhorse inverter generators are only 120 volt. Even in parallel, they would not be able to run a 220 volt product. Our 4,500 surge watt unit, item #83171 would have a 120/240-30A locking receptacle available to run a well pump, depending on the wattage requirement of your well pump.

jerry43· 6 years ago
These are 120 volt generators. With two in parallel, you get more power (wattage) but you still have 120 volts. So the answer is no.

Will this run a 800 watt microwave oven?
-
JTNN· 7 years ago
Runs my 1100 watt micro no problem.
Helpful?
-
PowerhorseExpert11· 7 years ago
In most cases, this inverter generator will run a 800 watt microwave oven. Microwaves typically have a surge watt rating which is higher than what the microwave is rated at (in this case, 800 watts). If you are unsure of what the microwave's surge watt rating/requirement is, we recommend checking with the microwave's manufacturer.

Can this be ran continuously for a few days straight?
-
jsyland· 8 years ago
I used mine for a couple days straight with no problems. Only shut it off to fuel up, I did let it cool for about 15 minutes before I fueled it but it was right back running after I fueled it.

PowerhorseExpert13· 8 years ago
This generator is capable of running continuously for a few days. However, the generator will need to cool off before refilling the gas and the oil should be checked before restarting.

Fuel Usage and run time
Does anyone know how long two of these units will run powering an rv including a 15k air conditioner in 85 degree weather as well as run per tank? Basically under full load. As an average I know there are several factors that will influence the actual times.
-
Superglidin· 10 years ago
I would buy a larger generator for an AC that large. Or parallel two of these together. Run time at 1/4 load is quite long however, comparable to Honda and others.

PowerhorseExpert11· 10 years ago
This inverter generator has an approximate run time of 3 to 3-1/2 hours at full load.

What is the proper use for the ESC (engine smart control) button?
I noticed when starting they say the ESC should be off -- or if using two in parallel, it should be in the same position for both generators. When would you turn it on?
-
PowerhorseExpert· 6 years ago
With the Engine Smart Control button ON, this generator will automatically reduce the engine speed depending on the size of the load. This will result in better fuel consumption and less noise. With the Engine Smart Control button OFF, the engine runs at full RPM regardless if a load is connected or not. If you're using this generator to power loads rated at less than 1800 watts, it's best to turn on the ESC.

JHOutdoors· 11 years ago
I would say that it is best utilized when you have a smaller wattage load or a load that varies frequently (like a short draw from a refrigerator or a well pump etc. If you are putting a constant higher wattage load on the generator(s) such as running a space heater, charging a bank of batteries, etc then it would be logical to turn the esc switch off and run at max capacity, even though the whole theory of the esc switch is to vary the output based on demand. It's an economy feature which is nice when needed, but it's always best to know the level (appx. wattage) and type (constant/ varying) of the load you are supplying power to and use the switch accordingly, even though in theory the switch is supposed to do it for you. It's also possible there may be some small difference in when a Breaker would trip depending on what position the switch was in.
