High Altitude Operation

CAUTION: Operating at an altitude of greater than 2000 feet (610 meters) may affect your engine's performance, fuel consumption, and emissions. To remain emissions compliant and improve engine performance at higher altitudes, a high-altitude kit is required. A high altitude kit includes a carburetor jet resized to help correct air / fuel mixture at altitude. To order a high altitude kit, or if you have additional questions, contact us at 1-866-442-2576. Please note, engines with the high-altitude kit installed operated at lower altitudes could cause severe engine damage and affect emissions compliance. When modified, a tag or decal should be added to the product stating that a high-altitude kit was installed and to remind you to re-service the carburetor (re-jet) when operating in lower altitude environments.

    1. The generator is not equipped with a CO2 sensor. Install a carbon monoxide alarm inside nearby structure/building (battery operated or plug in with battery backup).

    1. This generator has a 50 Amp (14-50) receptacle. This can be used with a 50 Amp compatible generator cord. Please view item #50818 for a compatible generator cord.

  7. Regarding the Powerhorse 13000 ES, the Northen Tool web description states: “Less than 5% harmonic distortion at full load…” So is the unit’s THD less than 2.5 % when running at half load (5000watts)?

    1. The total harmonic distortion will fluctuate. The average with any load will be less than 5%.

  9. There are two yellow twist filler caps on the generator. One is the oil gauge cap filler near the oil filter. The other is on the opposite side of the generator, near the engine. What is that used cap for?

    1. Both yellow twist caps are oil filler caps. Either one can be used to fill the crankcase with oil.
