  1. Is the handle interchangeble, left or right?

    1. It can be mounted either way

    2. To change from left to right handle, just mount the reel the other way, like upside down.

    3. Yes and No, once mounted to a wall its not interchangeable but if you know what side you wanted handle on you can just flip the reel over so the handle is on the side you want before mounting.

    4. No, the handle is not interchangeable left of right. The only way to 'interchange' is to turn the entire reel end for end.

    5. The handle assembly cannot be switched to the other side. However, you can mount the reel so the handle is facing the direction you want it to.

    1. No, the reel's fittings are not compatible for a water hose.

    3. It does not have a connector for a water hose. The brass fitting is for an air compressor hose.

      It is smaller in scale than a water hose reel....You might use it for storage for a short hose.

  3. What is the spacing between the mounting holes?

    1. There are six attach holes for the reel assembly to the wall or to a separate board which in turn is attached to the wall.
      The holes are three along the top and three along the lower edge of the mounting plate spaced 2" apart. The holes for both the top and lower row of holes are located in the center and the two toward the outer edges of the reel unit are 5 1/2" to the right and left of those in the center.

    2. 2 sets of slotted 11" center to center, with a single hole centered between them.

    3. The mounting plate is 14" long x 3 1/4" wide. Each corner has a slotted hole 2 1/8" long x 7/16" wide 5-1/2” on center length wise and 2’ on center side on the width. There are two round holes in the middle that are 7/16" in diameter and 2"on center on the width.

  4. Are there provisions to preventing free spooling if using only a portion of thje hose?

    1. Yes. The reel has a spring loaded dampener. You have to pull out whatever length you need. The reel does not free spin

    2. This Ironton Reel is equipped with a spring tension brake that limits reeling speed and prevents free spooling.

  5. How do I put the air hose on

    1. Attach the fitting of the air hose to the coupler on the hose reel and tighten it securely. Once connected, use the reel handle to slowly wind the hose onto the drum, making sure it wraps evenly and neatly as you turn the handle.

    1. Although the length and diameter of a 12 gauge electrical cord would fit, this hose reel is not rated for electric applications.

    1. This air hose reel would not be recommended for use with herbicides and other water based applications.

  10. Will this mount horizontally (handle to one side) using the Ironton swivel bracket (49605) and swivel left to right? The ad says they are commonly bought/used together but the bolt holes do not appear to line up in the pictures.

    1. This hose reel will not fit our Ironton hose reel swivel bracket. Please see our item #62249 for a hose reel that will fit.
