    1. Yes it has both Electric and pull start

    2. Yes. All machines do these days, as far as I know - I've never seen one with E-start only. All have recoil start.

  2. What type of oil is recommended for Yard Man snow blowers?

    The sales rep said to go with 10W and the manual says to go with 5W or vice versa----what is best for a snow blower. Twin Cities area

    1. 5w 30 is recommended by MFR. I would go with who created it.

  3. How is the discharge chute controled?

    1. A lever controls side to side and up and down motion. You can adjust this while snow blowing.

  4. type electric start, plug-in or battery?

    1. I have yet to see a battery powered E-start on a snowblower. Cold + battery usually doesn't work out very good, especially considering how little they get used over the course of a year compared to other equipment. This of course depends on where you live.

      120v plug-in is the most common type of E-start on these.

    2. The Yard-man snowblower has a 120volt style electric start. You simply plug the supplied cordset into the wall outlet and the blower and push the button on the snowblower to start the engine.

  5. What is the rated HP on the 208cc engine and who is the manufacturer of the engine?

    1. 1HP per 25cc is the general rule - that will get you close. My personal opinion is it's probably closer to 30cc's than 25.

      So, 208cc / 25cc = 8.32 HP - so 8HP would be close enough. Divided by 30cc would be close to 7HP - I believe that is more realistic. Since these engines don't run anywhere near 5250 RPM, the torque rating is always higher than HP. This one could be anywhere from 12 -18 ft.lbs. of torque.

      There was a class action lawsuit against a few major manufacturers about falsified HP ratings - they lost, and it cost them BIG. This is the reason nobody lists HP anymore.

    2. The engine on the Yard-Man Dual-Stage Snow Blower is manufactured by PowerMore. It does not have a rated horsepower. This, like most small engines are classified by displacement only(208 cubic centimeters).

  6. Is there a fuel shut-off valve from tank to carb?

    1. This snow blower does not have a fuel shut-off valve to shut the fuel off from the gas tank going to the carburetor.

  8. Range of walking speeds

    How fast can this go at the fasted speed? Is it nearlyas fast as would be possible with a one stage without driven wheels operating with light snow loads? I've heard that some two stage throwers go very slowly so it actually works slower than a one stage, when the amount of snow is not that significant.

    1. The max speed of this unit is 4 mph. If their is not a significant snowfall the top speed of this unit would still remain at 4 mph.
