    wondering which softener i need with the model 900IF. I live in the country.

  2. Can you use this iron filter without a softener?

    My water hardness is fine, but it has red sediment that has been identified as iron that gets through the whole house filter.

    1. The WaterBoss Iron Filter cannot be used without a water softener. The unit has a 10% bleed through, which would require a water softener to clean, or catch residue.

  3. What kind of filter does this take?

    1. The WaterBoss Iron Filter uses green sand media that does not need to be replaced, only "recharged" periodically. Potassium permanganate regenerates the media and can be purchased directly through the manufacturer or can be found at most home centers.
