  1. Can this crane be easily disassembled?

    I am looking for a crane to load and unload a 650# motorcycle onto my pickup truck (Ford F-550 with a toter body) about 2 or 3 times per year. My question is, can this crane be easily disassembled and assembled in place for ease of 1 person set-up and take-down?

    1. define easily! If you can lift an 80 lb bag of cement you can remove the crane. The base and the mast are slip fit and easily disassemble. Keep in mind that the mast has a very greasy, large bearing mounted on the end and it will both make a mess and pick up contaminants if not protected while disassembled.

    2. One person can do it, but its a heavy unit and would not easily be lifted out of the base. I know one person can assemble it, we only used 1 guy for both of ours

    3. Yes, this unit can be assembled and disassembled relatively easy. The boom can be lowered easily as well.

  2. Truck Bed Mounting

    I want to use a truck crane to load/unload large game (e.g. elk, deer, etc.) into and out of my truck, so it will not be needed year-round. Will this crane serve that purpose well? Does this product mount easily/securely in a 1/2 ton pickup truck bed? Can it be installed/deinstalled easily by one person?

    1. Deer won't be a problem but a large elk will tax the capacity of the hand winch 500 lb for the first wrap of the drum. Also depending on how you bundle the animal you may not have sufficient sky rights to clear the decking with the animal suspended.

    2. The Vestil jib crane mounts to the truck bed using 8 bolts. Due to the capacity of the crane, truck bed reinforcing may be required using angle iron or steel plate. One person could install but the crane would need to supported during the bolting process.

  3. Is the hydraulic ram rebuild able/ resealable?

    1. A seal kit would be available through the manufacturer for the hydraulic ram.

  4. Is the hydraulic jack piston chrome plated? I had a low cost truck crane before that rusted out in a very short time.

  5. Any issues with truck bed mounting?

    All the pictures that I see are folks mounting this on either trailers or on flat beds - not on typical pickup beds. I am concerned because the bed of my Ram 2500 is not flat.

    1. As long as the bolts that you are bolting down are reinforced you will have no issues with mounting this product into the non-flat bed of your Ram 2500.

    Can the crane pull apart at the base or does it need to be unbolted at the flange.

  8. Is the cable stainless steel? If not can it be ordered with the marine stainless steel cable?

    1. The crane has a boom extension range of from 32 7/8" t0 43 3/8". The lift range is from 90 1/2" to 105". It has a full 360 degree rotation. We do not have a chart of the in between varying ranges.
