  1. Will this handle algae

    Could it be used as a pond pump for aeration?

    1. Not recommended. It is a grinder pump.

    2. This pump is not recommended to use for pond aeration, the manufacturer does have a line of pumps designed for aeration purposes, you would need to contact the manufacturer (Tsurumi) directly.

  3. What level will the pump work down too?

    Most pumps will only pump down to a certain level. I am looking for a pump that will get as close to the surface as possible but it needs to move a large amount of water as quickly as possible.

    1. You might also consider two pumps. One like this to get the bulk of the water out quickly, then a small pump that sits closer to the ground. I drain pools with this one and use a Little Giant to get the last few inches of water out.

  4. it is a 110 volt pump but does it come with the plug attached or do i need to install the wire on it?

  5. Salt water usage

    I need to transfer salt water to a brackish pond to top it off. Is this pump suited. This will be a short 4 or 5 day event and otherwise rarely used.

    1. This pump cannot be used to transfer salt water. Click the link below to view a submersible pump that is approved for salt water transfer.

  6. IF the max vertical head height (39 feet for this pump) is actually higher in use (lets say about 50 feet) will it still put out a reduced flow?

    1. The max vertical head height on this pump is 39 feet and since this pump only has a 12 horsepower engine that height can not be exceeded.

    1. The manufacturer does not recommend reducing this unit.

  8. Electricity required to operate

    I was shopping for a gas powered trash pump but find this very appealing. However, I would need to run extension cords a significant distance, maybe 200 feet, to run it where I need it. What gauge wire would be needed for a run that long?

    1. This pump should not be used with an extension cord any longer than 70 feet. The extension cord should be 14 gauge.

    Is Model# HS2.4S-62 the same as Model# HSZ2.4S-62, minus the float switch?

    1. Yes, the only difference is the float switch, which would turn the unit on and off automatically when water reaches a certain level.

  10. Is this a continous use pump ?

    I am trying to move a mixture of mud and water from one side of our Belize school property to fill in low lying areas.
    Will this pump work or can you recommend a better model?

    1. This unit will move mud and water mixture, if mostly water. It can run continuously 24 hours a day.
