    1. This ladder can be mounted on either side of the tailgate.

      Helpful?

    2. yes either side will work

      Helpful?

    3. Yes It can be mounted on either side just turn the ladder over.

    6. Yes as stated it is universal mounting.

      Helpful?

    7. Yes, just flip it over so curved ladder leg faces front of truck.

      Helpful?

    8. Yes - just flip the hinge so that bent bar is forward.

      Helpful?

    9. It should work there also. I would just be a matter of flipping the entire assembly around to that side.

      Helpful?

    10. This ladder can be mounted on the passenger side of the tailgate.

      Helpful?

  3. Will it work with a tonneau cover

I have a F-150 with a Bak Flip VP cover, will the cover still seal?

    1. It bolts to the inside of the tailgate. With the gate closed, it's about an inch below the top edge. I believe it would be ok and not interfere with the cover at all.

      Helpful?

    2. Depending on what type of lock you have on the cover the ladder shouldn’t enter fear with the cover. The ladder folds up on the back of the tailgate and is held in place by a strap just below the top of the tailgate.

      Helpful?

    3. It should work just fine all of the ladder rests on the inside of the tail gate.

      Helpful?

    4. Yes it mounts inside to the tail gate and will not interfere with any covers.

      Helpful?

    5. It should be no problem at all. When the step is in the folded position it is against the inside of the tailgate and below the top edge.

      Helpful?

    6. You just have to mount it low enough to clear the cover.

      Helpful?

    7. I have a low profile roll-up cover with a locking latch under the left side rear. Mounting the ladder per instructions (left side) would have hit the latch so I flipped it over & mounted on right side of tailgate. It clears everything & works great.

      Helpful?

    8. This tailgate ladder includes a mounting plate that measures 8.07" wide. The placement of the mounting plate can be adjusted to accommodate a tonneau cover that extends into the the bed of the truck. This will allow clearance of the ladder when the tailgate is up so the tonneau cover can be sealed when it's closed.

  4. When ladder is down, what keeps it from kicking out?

Looks like it works great on grass, but how about concrete or asphalt?? Looks like the ladder would kick out to me.

    1. It will not kick out. It may move just a little, (maybe an inch on cement, not on grass or gravel) (May sink on soft soil?) but it is fastened to the tailgate. Can't slide out from you. Easy to remove when not in use. Only 2 square tubes remain on tailgate. About 2-21/2 inches high. (off to either side)

      Helpful?

    2. I never paid attention to the angle the manual said, but I've never had it slip on concrete and I use it on concrete every week at the dump

      Helpful?

    3. the angle they constructed and the double hinges make sure the ladder is stable. I am 241 pounds and have no trouble with it.

      Helpful?

    4. It stays in place once you have adjusted it to your truck, on mine with the angle seen in the picture that is how it works keeping it steady.

      Helpful?

    5. if you keep to the 15 degree angle that it states in the manual as i have had no problems with it moving very much.

      Helpful?

    6. The Traxion Tailgate Ladder being firmly mounted to your tailgate will stay in place simply from the weight of your body.

      Helpful?

    7. Ladder is attached to the tail gate.

      Helpful?

  5. How much room is taken up in the bed of the truck?

On my 8' bed truck, will I still be able to load 4' x 8' sheets of plywood and be able to close the tailgate, or will the ladder prevent the tailgate from closing?

    1. It's only about 1-1/2"-2" thick when mounted and about 4-6" from bed floor. However, it comes with quick pins and can be removed if need be for hauling large loads.

      Helpful?

    2. Ladder system takes up 2-3" of bed space length.

      Helpful?

    3. The ladder uses about 1 inch of speace on the tailgate and can be easily removed with two quick pins.

      Helpful?

    4. There should not be any problem - the ladder is less than 1 1/2" when closed. If this causes a problem the hinge clip allows the ladder to be easily and quickly removed. I have a short bed and a 4x8 sheet can lie flat on the tailgate when the ladder is removed.

      Helpful?

    5. It shouldn't . the ladder is less than 2" deep when stowed. And if it should two clips and it is removed.

      Helpful?

    6. Yes, the tailgate will still close when bed is loaded with 8' long material.

      Helpful?

  6. Will this endure ATV loading/unloading in its folded position?

With the ladder extended, the weight of the ATV will push it into the ground. With the ladder up, I have to drive over the ladder with the ATV. Is mounting hardware and connectivity stout enough to endure abuse from driving over the ladder with an ATV, lawnmower, motorcycle, etc?

    1. Just un-pin it and take it off when loading/unloading your ATV. This will eliminate the possibility of bending it when you drive over it.

      Helpful?

    2. No, this is for assisting climbing into truck bed

      Helpful?

    3. It is strong enough material from handling it , it is stowed flat on the gate, there is no gap when stowed so the 4 wheeler will go over it without causing any support tension on it's own, I think it is made with enough strong material to support the weight.

      Helpful?

    4. If it’s laying flat on your tailgate it shouldn’t be a problem with your ATV or lawnmowers. If the latter is down and you’re trying to load it has two pans that you can pull the ladder off and remove it very easy then it goes back on very easy when you’re through loading the tractor or your ATVs

      Helpful?

    5. This should not be driven over by an ATV.

      Helpful?

  7. Does the mount interfere with ramp

Does the mount interfere with a 4 wheeler ramp?

    1. The mounting plate is just a small square flat plate with to connection parts off to the side of the tailgate. I added to more quick release pins so that I can disconnect the ladder if needed. However, if you have it down, it should not be in the way of any ramps, access, etc.

      Helpful?

    2. That will depend on how close it has to be mounted to the top edge of the tailgate and how your ramps attach.

      Helpful?

    3. No, pull two pins to remove it

      Helpful?

    4. It should not because it is mounted to the side and would not interfere with the access to the bed when the gate is open.

      Helpful?

    5. This tailgate ladder could interfere with an ATV ramp depending on how near the edge of the tailgate (in the down/horizontal position) you mount it and the width of your ramp or its supporting plates when it is placed on your truck's tailgate.

  8. Will this work on an aluminum tailgate?

    1. yes, just mounted it on a 2019 F150

      Helpful?

    2. Just my thoughts.. This mounts by six (or more if you add) self metal screws. So, it seems if you use appropriate predrill and screws, it would hold pretty well. The way it connects to the plate seems like most of the force pulling on it would be sideways shear force on the screws, not straight up / out.

      Helpful?

    3. Yes

      Helpful?

    4. Yes it will work on aluminum tailgates.

      Helpful?

    5. This will work on an aluminum tail gate.

      Helpful?

  9. Does it mount to existing bolts in the tailgate?

Does this product require drilling to mount? ...or does it mount to existing tailgate bolts?

Will it mount over a spray in bed-liner?

    1. requires drilling but its easy.

not sure about the spray on bed liner, mine is a drop in but the instructions cover both and they send you two sizes of screws just for that

      Helpful?

    2. It did on mine, you could also get longer screws (if you needed them)

      Helpful?

    3. It has a universal mount for which you will have to drill holes for the mounting screws and to position it correctly. I installed mine over a spray on bed liner with no problem.

      Helpful?

    4. You will need to drill the holes

      Helpful?

    5. The tailgate ladder would require drilling to mount to the tailgate as the bolt sizing and spacing may not be the same as the existing pattern. The item will work with most bed liners however you may need to drill through the spray in bed-liner to mount if possible.

  10. Weight Transfer from ladder to tailgate

When the ladder is deployed and you are stepping off the ladder onto the tailgate, does the ladder give way any to allow for the tailgate to drop from the weight transfer from the ladder to the tailgate? Seems like if the ladder was too firm in its stance, when you stepped off the ladder and onto the tailgate the leverage from the tailgate drop would peel the ladder mount off of the tailgate. How much vertical travel is allowed in the height of the tailgate?

    1. the mounting brackets and link to the ladder can move up or down allowing for any adjustment

      Helpful?

    2. The ladder connects to the tailgate plate with two channels that act like hinges which automatically compensate to the tailgate height when weight is applied to the tail gate.

      Helpful?

    3. That is why the hinge device is incorporated to take up this type of flex.

      Helpful?

    4. The mount has a link that move independent from the ladder. Unless really load the truck with it down, I don't think this is going to cause a problem

      Helpful?

    5. The tailgate ladder mount is hinged to allow movement in the tailgate when weight is applied. There is no maximum vertical travel measurement for this item.
