  4. Is the shutter quiet? I have a cheap shutter and the rattling of the blades is remarkably noisy.

    1. This shutter should not product any rattling noises. It will open when the fan turns on and close when the fan turns off.

  5. Can this be used as the air intake with flange mounted on the building exterior?

    1. The shutter is designed to be mounted on the exterior of the building but as the exhaust and not the intake. To reverse that, the motor on the back of the exhaust fan would be in the way of mounting to the exhaust shutter.

    1. This TPI Exhaust can be used with a 30 inch whole house fan. It would need to be framed in and be used vertical only.
