16" bar with an 18" chain, per the packaging. I installed this on an 18" bar with a 20" chain, and it is too heavy at the tip.

What is the ideal saw and bar length to use with this peeler?

Sorter bars tend to be better - it's easier to control the peeler if it's not way out at the end of the bar.

There really isn't an ideal bar length/size to use with this log peeler. As long as you use a chain that's sized for a bar 2" longer than your current chainsaw bar, it will work.

How do you determine the chain length required? Is there a formula? Does this take a 3/8 pitch or a .375 pitch saw chain?
-
DCSilverback· 9 years ago
Use a chain that is 2" longer than the bar. For a 16" bar you will need a 18" chain. For an 18" bar use a 20" chain, etc.
You can set it up with either pitch.

This log peeler requires that you size your chain up 2" to the next bar length. For instance, if your chainsaw bar is 16" long then you'd use a chain that's for a 18" bar. A 3/8" pitch and 0.375" pitch are the same size. This peeler comes with sprockets for both 0.375" (3/8") and 0.325" pitch chains.

Why limit the length?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 2 years ago
To fit the log peeler correctly, the chain on the chainsaw would need to be 2" longer the than the bar for the chainsaw you are using. It needs to fit tight into the chain.

How does this attach to the chainsaw?
Is there a manual that I could look at?
1 answer-
ProductExpert41· 10 years ago
This product is attached to your chainsaw by bolting the two bolts in the slotted grooves to your chainsaw bar. Your chainsaw chain will then wrap around a loop on the end of the peeler to make the product operate. A manual is included when you purchase this item but is not available online.
