The SunStar® Garage Tube Heater is ideal for residential garages, vestibules, entryways, workshops, enclosed patios, restaurants, smoking shelters, small greenhouses, hard-to-heat small areas and low-ceiling height applications. Low intensity radiant heat can save up to 30% in fuel savings over convection warm air heating. Requires horizontal vent kit, Item# 29794, or vertical vent kit, Item# 28795 (both sold separately). Requires Line Voltage Thermostat, Item# 16284 (sold separately) or 24V Thermostat, Item# 16342 and a 24V Thermostat Relay Kit, Item# 16289 (both sold separately). U.S.A.

NOTE: In residential garage applications, the heater must be vented outside through sidewall or the roof. In commercial/industrial space heating applications, the heater can be indirectly vented (optional exhaust hood sold separately). Please review the detailed Installation Operating Instructions (attached) for other specific installation requirements (gas pressure, ventilation etc.) prior to purchasing the heater.

  1. Minimum Standoff Distance?

    How far away does this need to be mounted from walls and ceilings. I assume the heating capacity is 500 sq ft, not 5,000...

    1. Per page four of the owner's manual (available on line), if hung horizontally, it needs to be 8" from the sides and 4" from the ceiling. If angle mounted at 45 degrees, it needs to be 4" from the wall and 4" from the ceiling.

    2. The clearances for this Sun Star garage tube heater are 8" on all sides, 4" from the ceiling and 41" below the heater. The side clearance is 12” when installed in an UNVENTED configuration in industrial and commercial installations. The heating capability is between 500 and 1,000 square feet.

  3. Will this work if the power is off. Can it be lit manually?

    1. The model SIR25, item #16268 requires to be wired to 120VAC in order to operate. It cannot be operated manually. Be sure to follow all clearance instructions listed in the product manual.

    1. This heater requires a clearance of 4" above the heater and 41" below the heater.
