Northern Tool would not recommend using this vent cap on a cast iron vent pipe. The manufacturer (SunStar) lists a maximum temperature rating of 400 degrees F. Cast iron pipes can be up to 600-700 degrees, but if your vent is under 400 degrees, you will be safe.
