Strongway Wall-Mount Hose Reel, Holds 5/8in. x 150ft. Hose, 150 PSI, 6ft. Lead-In Hose

I live with freezing weather too. I just disconnect the feed hose from the spigot, pull all the hose off the reel and drag it to a lower spot, wait for it to drain and wind it up with no water in it. But if you insist, you can unbolt it from the house/wall you fasten it to. I don't know if the reel easily comes off of the stand. There are two large torx bolts at the pivot end of the reel that may make it come off the stand.

It would be much easier to just remove the hose and blow out what little water may be left in the hose reel.

It's held on with 4 lag bolts that can be easily removed for winter storage, I would just make sure you use quality moly's in your wall so they hold up to the frequent torqueing of the bolts.

Very easy. Two socket head bolts need to be removed and unhook the hose from the water valve. That's all there is to it. You will need someone to help hold the reel while you are unbolting it so you don't have to remove the hose.

The Strongway hose reel is mounted using four bolts. All that would be required is a ratchet to remove bolts from the wall and should not take more then five to ten minutes.

You must uninstall to change the arm bracket orientation.The two hex bolts are hidden behind the base bracket.

It has to be removed and the arm needs to be taken off to turn it to make the change. ( I found out the hard way ) You'll need a metric allen wrench to remove the bolts.

The short answer is no. Because to change it over you need to remove the mounting base in order to change the arm 180 degrees and the bolts are not accessible when mounted.

It must be configured to a specific operation prior to mounting it.

If you mount it in a parallel mount, it would need to be used in the parallel. You could dismount it and remount in a perpendicular mount for use in this way.

I would recommend caulking any holes with high quality silicone caulking when inserting the lag bolts. Of course the reel needs to be mounted to studs in the wall for proper support.

There are no special instructions for mounting on vinyl siding. However, I'll give my own "special instructions." Most wall studs are at 16-inch center-to-center and the bolt holes on the reel measure 16-inches by 7 3/4-inches. If your stud finder shows you accurately where the studs are, drill pilot holes into the studs and bolt the reel into those studs. The reel should be secure. If you know you have heavy wood siding under the vinyl siding, the reel should hold bolted through the vinyl into the wood.

You would need 2 mounting blocks made for this application. Should find them at any of the big box stores, they come in double 4" or double 5" depending on your siding. You want to make sure they are fastened to the studs as this reel is quite heavy when holding 150' hose filled with water.
