This Strongway Tow-Behind Dethatcher has 24 heat-treated 7in. spring steel tines that comb the matted layer of thatch onto one surface for easy bagging or mulching. The tow-behind unit helps give new life to your lawn by aiding with water retention and also by removing roots, leaves, grass clippings and other small vegetation that inhibit growth. The adjustment handle is easily accessible from the driver's seat of the pull vehicle, giving you safe control while the dethatcher is in use. 48in. operating width. 60-lb. max. weight capacity.

  1. will this work with raking up oak leaves?

    1. This product is not intended for primarily raking. Ina way it does it, but you maybe better off with product designed for raking. I have a Agri-Fab 50 in. lawn sweeper that worked great for picking up leaves. You can dump it right from the tractor w/o getting off of it.

This unit may work for your application, however it is designed for deep penetration of the surface and subsurface of your lawn to remove roots, leaves, grass clippings and other small vegetation. Please see My Product Recommendation below for an acreage rake that would work for your application.

  2. Can this handle 2 acres of ruff patchy lawn that hasn't been touched in years?

    Are the steel tines replaceable?

    1. Yes it can - I have about 1.5 acres that appeared to have never been touched and it handled it fine. The tines are replaceable which is one of the main reasons I purchased this product over others.

  3. could this be used for tedding a small parcel of cut hay? Could it be dragged by a golf cart?

    1. This dethatcher is not designed for use with hay. It is designed more for preventing roots, leaves, grass clippings and other small vegetation from inhibiting the growth of a lawn. This can be pulled by a golf cart equipped with a pin style receiver hitch.
