  1. Is it a simple matter to replace the supplied 6 ft. leader hose with a longer length?

    1. yes, no issues with whatever leader house you want to use

    2. Yes it is. Its just a short hose that comes with it to connect to your faucet, but I see no reason why you couldn't put your own longer hose on it. I have 100' of stainless steel hose on mine and there is room for probably another 100' on the reel. Adding a longer feeder hose to the cart would put it further away from the faucet if you need that capability. You could disconnect the feeder hose and probably coil it in the basket on the cart for easier storage if needed.

    3. Yes, easy to remove original 6 foot section of hose and easy to replace. Attaches to end of reel axle opposite of turning handle.

    4. Yes, the hose that comes with the cart is a standard garden hose connections. You can put any length of water hose on the cart you want.

    5. The 6 ft. leader hose could be easily replaced with a longer hose as long as they have the same thread, 5/8 inch GHT ( Garden Hose Thread).

  2. Major Differences - Improvements?

    Beside the size, what is the major differences and improvements between this hose reel cart and item # 46378, the other Strongway hose cart that your offer?

    Does this reel require assembly?

    1. Absolutely. At least 1/2 hour.

    2. Yes but if you have it shipped to a local Northern Tool location, their service department will assemble it for you for a reasonable surcharge.

    3. the difference is the wagon pull handle--yes it does require assembly, but it is an easy process with all the hardware identified in appropriate groups. Piece of cake.

    4. I purchased this model because I thought it might be easier to pull. I find it easier to pull carts over grass/turf rather than push. The 46378 seems like it was designed to be pushed.

      This reel does require assembly but it went together fast and was easy.

The major differences between this cart and item #46378 are: this cart has the wagon style handle for pulling rather than the stationary upright handle for pushing and this cart has the basket underneath the reel. Most of the rest of the parts are actually the same and have the same quality. Assembly is required.

  3. Will 100ft of 1" thick hose fit on this?

    1. I would assume so. Took 150 feet of a regular hose with a lot of room to spare.

    3. The hose reel will hold 100 ft of 1 inch hose, but includes a standard garden hose connection (3/4 inch) which may not connect with the 1 inch hose unless it has the same fitting (or the appropriate adapter).

    4. I've got 300' feet of 5/8" ID on mine with plenty of room to spare. It should very easily handle more than 100' of 1" if the hose is not hard.

  4. Can it be hitched to a yard tractor?

    1. It would depend on what type of hook up you have on your yard tractor. The handle is spring loaded so it stays vertical unless you are pulling it. It is a looped yoke with a rubber grip for pulling, so theoretically you could attach it to a pulling hook. I don't see it being pulled with a traditional ball trailer hitch unless you somehow tie it to the hitch. In that case, I could see some wear on the handle. If you do attach it to a lawn tractor, I wouldn't go fast or make hard turns. This cart has a short and narrow wheel base, so it could turn over and twist the handle if you turn it to fast with a tractor. Its fine pulling by hand though.

    2. The tongue on the cart is for a person's hand. You could make an adapter to hook it to a yard tractor. The tongue is like an old read wagon that we had as a kid.

    3. There is not a coupler option for this hose reel cart to allow it to be hitched to a tractor.

  5. Does this have ball bearings and/or grease zerks?

    1. It has a "bearing bracket" on one end of the hose drum and I think enclosed in the wheel hubs. However, there are no grease fittings anywhere on this cart.

  7. Can you buy wheel brakes for the hose reel cart?

    1. That's a very good question. I installed the hose on mine just today, but with almost record-breaking low temps expected for Saint Clair, MI area tomorrow morning I did not hook the hose to the spigot. I did put rubber wheel chocks that I had in my garage to hold it in place.
