If possible, remove the battery from the vehicle before charging.
Battery out of vehicle: Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clamp to the Positive (+) battery terminal, then the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp to the Negative (-) terminal.
Battery in vehicle: Determine whether the vehicle is negatively or positively earthed. Connect the clamp to the battery terminal not connected to the chassis first, then connect the second clamp to the chassis, away from the battery, fuel lines, and moving parts.
Negatively earthed (most vehicles): RED to Positive (+); BLACK to chassis.
Positively earthed: BLACK to Negative (-); RED to chassis.
