  1. For a 10 degree tilt I know the base is slide forward. Do I leave the base forward for both the RH and LH cutters or do I move the base back when I sharpen the left hand cutters?

    1. The base on this model 57523 does not tilt forward or back. It only rotates left or right up to 40 degrees in each dirrection.

    2. You do not move the base back to sharpen the left hand cutters. You will grind all the teeth in one direction, then turn the clamping screw (minding the angle) and grind the teeth in the opposite direction.

  5. How do you attach handle looks like it needs to be completly tore down?

    1. There is a square hole on the casting of the motor holder for the nut to attach the handle. It should simply thread on to the housing.

  6. my saw chain requires a 10 degree base angle tilt. which direction do I slide the base,Front to back and vice versa, for RH and LH cutters?

    1. For a 10 degree tilt on a right hand chain you would slide the base toward you, for a left hand chain you will slide the base to the back.

    1. This can sharpen a Raker chain if it has a 1/4", .325", 3/8", .404" or 3/4" chain pitch.

    I have one that is mostly plastic. Is the vice made out of metal?

    1. The unit is made of a mixture of metal and plastic parts. The main plastic parts include the handle, knobs and engine cover. The vice however is made of metal.
