  1. How do I reload the string? What size string is required?

    1. To reload the trimmer head, remove the cap by pushing the side tabs, take out and clear the spool, wind about 14 to 15 feet of 0.095-inch trimmer line in the direction of the arrows, and snap the ends back into the eyelets.

  10. how do you install this piece

    1. You would need to lock the shaft. Look at the gear case or trimmer housing near the top of the trimmer head. You will see a small hole or designated slot. Insert a Stihl stop pin, a small hex wrench, or a sturdy nail into this hole. Rotate the trimmer head slowly until the pin drops into the inner gear and completely stops the head from rotating. You then remove the existing head while holding the pin in place to lock shaft. Turn it clockwise to unscrew it. Make sure the thrust plate ins seated correctly before installing the new one. Align the head with the drive shaft bolt. While keeping the shaft locked with your pin, turn the new head counterclockwise to thread it on securely, then hand tighten it firmly.
