Can this pump be exposed to the weather (rain) and operating sprinklers during the irrigation season, or does it need to be in protected enclosure?

This Star Water System lawn sprinkler pump does need to be enclosed in a pump house or something similar so that it is protected from the elements and the sprinklers as they operate.
