If you want to protect your investment as I'm sure everyone would want to take care of their Wagner Airless Sprayer system. Use care when cleaning it:
Warm soapy water for LATEX or water based products; and mineral spirits or lacquer thinner if cleaning sprayer after using oil based paints, stains or sealers.
Be sure to preserve sprayer between uses with pump preserver or just plain WD-40--it will save you a lot of headaches when you pull it out to use after its been sitting 10 or 20 months.

For clean up you are going to want to follow the paint manufactures recommendations for clean up. For instance if you are using latex paint you would want to use warm soapy water for clean up. Once you have finished cleaning your sprayer you will want to take about two tablespoons of a light oil and suck it up into the inlet valve to keep the seal lubricated.

When using latex paints, clean your sprayer and components using warm, soapy water.When using oil-based paints,use mineral spirits.Do not use mineral spirits on latex paint, or the mixture will turn into a jelly-like substance which is difficult to remove.

Can the spray gun be switched out for a wand to use to run deck cleaner through? If the gun can't be switched, can the entire hose be switched out?
I am sorry, but the gun and hose cannot be switched so it is able to spray deck cleaner through the sprayer.

This sprayer is capable of spraying water based cleaners, but would not provide the constant pressure needed to clean a deck, paint sprayers are designed to run for shorter periods. A pressure washer would be best suited for this application. See below for pressure washer options.

This sprayer works with both 5 gallon and 1 gallon paint cans.

The sprayer will work with both one gallon and five gallons. It comes with a 50 foot hose so when using a one gallon a lot of the paint will be used to fill the spray hose.

Yes, the sprayer can be used with latex paint. You will want to make sure that you are in the recommended tip size of the sprayer. The maximum tip size the sprayer can support is a .019.
